Well, it was a pretty loose definition of “Iconic Dance Week” – it was really more like “Pick an Iconic Dance with music you like and just reuse that” week. There were gimmicks galore, and the judges giving quite possibly the MOST crack-addled scores I’ve ever seen – so basically, enough to give me a headache…which didn’t help other things going on in my household tonight. Sarahnet Radio has interviewed Bristol Palin again. They review last week’s dance and how happy Bristol is to be dancing again on Dancing With The Stars. She says the “crap” people give her for making it just motivate her that much more. Then they talk of the double elimination this week and Bristol and Mark’s Paso Doble. Bristol says the double elimination is “intimidating”, but, she’s staying “focused” on the dance. The competition with the cast has risen to another level and she’s been working even harder. Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd were on Good day LA yesterday! They set us up for the Tango they are doing this upcoming week on Dancing With The Stars. Gilles weak spot is his frame and Peta corrects him on it if he breaks it. They love the Tango and Gilles really wants to make it a “spectacle”. They were asked straight off about the double elimination coming up on Monday night which they weren’t expecting until the following week. Crack is wack…and BACK in the ballroom. Everything Courtney said about the scoring – I said much the same. Overly kind to some couples, desperately trying to find fault with others. What it boiled down to was a whole bunch of over scoring combined with some “just right” scoring. I don’t think anyone was underscored, really, but many were way too high. Including Bristol and Kirstie, despite them being at the bottom of the leader board. It’s this kind of scoring that always leads to shocking eliminations. Do I really think that either Bristol or Kirstie will go home this week? Read on…...

Oh jive/quickstep week – a week that usually has the potential to make me cringe and shake my head. Unfortunately, this season was no different The lines have been drawn, and the judges are making some pretty clear distinctions in their scoring – at the top we have the “chosen ones” who can do no wrong in the judges’ eyes (Gilles & Peta, Sabrina & Louis), then the good dancers that the judges seem to critique/score more harshly to give the impression of “wanting them to improve” (Shawn & Derek, Apolo & Karina, Melissa & Tony), the mediocre-to-good dancers that the judges seem reluctant to really critique/score harshly (Kelly & Val, Emmitt & Cheryl, Helio & Chelsie), the mediocre-to-bad dancers that don’t really get love from the judges but still get the votes to stay (Joey & Kym, Kirstie & Maks, Bristol & Mark)…and then you have Drew, whom I’m almost convinced the judges/TPTB don’t really give a rat’s ass whether he stays or goes. All in all, this illustrious all-star season is beginning to leave a bad taste in my mouth – and we’ve still got 8 more weeks to go after tomorrow! And please tell me I’m not the only one that’s getting sick of seeing that damn 7.5 paddle…...

Week 2 – the Jive and the Quickstep. Normally, if you had the Foxtrot in Week 1, you have the Jive in week 2. If you had the Cha Cha Cha you are dancing the Quickstep. That appears to be holding true for this season as well. There’s at least one, probably two train wrecks in this bunch…most of you can guess the first one....
